As I mentioned earlier, Jefferson wants to have a Harry Potter birthday party this year. At first I thought, "that will be fun, we can make some chocolate frogs and butterbeer".
I am realizing that there is a problem with starting to plan a party so far in advance. And the problem is, that you start coming up with all sorts of crazy ideas to make the party "even better". You wouldn't believe all the things I've already done for this party and his birthday isn't until the end of March.
One of those things are the invitations. Before I even created the actual invitations (which are pretty awesome), I decided that the invites needed to be delivered, obviously, by an owl. I looked online for small-ish plush owls. They were going to cost be about $5 an owl and I have over 10 invites to deliver...not going to happen. So I went to a local craft store and bought felt sheets for $0.25 per sheets. This is what I came up with:
I think he's pretty cute. And he cost me less than $0.50. (Although they did take me a "few" hours)
Here he is after Jefferson stuffed him with fluff.
The plan is to deliver the owl and the invitation to a doorstep and then do the good 'ol "door ditching" approach. That way when the door is answered, it will look like the owl brought the letter. I even found a green metalic pen for the envelopes.
Check back later for more Harry Potter planning. It's going to be so fun!
